Kaj Gumbs Comes On Board as TFG Associate

WASHINGTON D.C. – We are excited to announce that Kaj Gumbs has joined TFG as an Associate at the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Kaj has impressive legal expertise in large bankruptcy litigation, legal research, and legal consultation, as well as legislative experience in the public and private sectors in issues ranging from emerging facial recognition technology to topics under the Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission.

“Kaj is an incredible addition to our team,” said Jennifer Imo, Managing Partner of Client Services (and fellow J.D. at the firm). “It’s obvious that Kaj is dedicated to strengthening communities and improving the lives of the people that live there. His wealth of knowledge from the public and private sectors will enhance the legislative and regulatory advocacy services we provide to do just that.”

Kaj is originally from Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. He is a 2017 graduate of Morehouse College and holds a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) as a 2022 graduate of Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

Most recently, Kaj served as a Semester Law Clerk for Judge Christopher Lopez of the United States District and Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Texas focusing on large bankruptcy litigation, legal research, and legal consultation. He also served as a summer law clerk for Chief Judge David Jones of the Southern District of Texas’ Bankruptcy Court. Prior to this, he served as a legal legislative fellow in the office of Congressman G. K. Butterfield (D-N.C.-1) before being hired full-time as a Community Outreach and Constituent Services Liaison.

While an undergraduate, Kaj served in Fulton County Government, United States Department of State, the NAACP, and the AFL-CIO. Upon graduation, he took a post-graduate internship within the Atlantic Council—a non-partisan think tank focused on Transatlantic relations.
