TFG Closed Friday to Observe Juneteenth Holiday

Today, President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act (S.475) establishing Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19th annually, as a national holiday. Because Juneteenth falls on a weekend, The Ferguson Group (TFG) will join federal offices and close on Friday, June 18th in observance of the holiday. We will resume normal operations on Monday, June 21st.

TFG Principal David Hoover Participates in Broadband Funding Webinar

This week, The Ferguson Group Principal David Hoover brought his over twenty years of broadband experience to a May 18 panel hosted by the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative titled “Federal, State, and Local Broadband Funding Update.” The discussion focused on broadband funding provisions in the recently passed American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, which Congress passed in December 2020. Panelists covered programs such as the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Broadband Infrastructure Deployment, Tribal Broadband Connectivity, and Connecting Minority Communities grant programs, and guidance released in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Interim Final Rule for State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds regarding uses of funding for broadband projects. Lane Dickson, Former Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Staff, to Join TFG

The Ferguson Group (TFG), a leading lobbying firm representing local government, public agency, private industry, and special district interests in Washington, D.C., is pleased to announce that Lane H. Dickson will be joining TFG as a Principal on March 2.

BOR Awards WaterSMART Drought Resiliency Grants

On February 11, 2021, the Bureau of Reclamation announced FY 2021 WaterSMART Drought Resiliency Grant program awards. The Bureau selected 18 projects which intend to help communities in the western United States prepare to and respond to drought. Selected projects also support President Biden’s Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and focus on increasing reliability of water supplies, improved water management, and providing benefits to fish and wildlife.

In total, the Bureau awarded $15.4 million across seven states. TFG assisted with three of the winning projects, helping clients to secure $2,550,000.

Kristen H. Long Promoted to Grants Principal at TFG

TFG strengthens leadership team amidst explosive growth in grants division.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The TFG Grants Division is pleased to announce the promotion of Kristen H. Long to Grants Principal. Kristen has been an integral part of the TFG Grants Division since 2022.

"Kristen's promotion to Grants Principal is a testament to her outstanding contributions and leadership within our firm," said Kristi More, TFG Managing Partner of Grants. "Kristen's strategic thinking and comprehensive understanding of the grants process have been crucial to the success and growth of the TFG Grants Division. We are confident that she will continue to drive TFG’s mission forward, making a significant impact on our clients and the communities we serve.”

As a Grants Principal, Kristen will be responsible for enhancing client services, and overseeing the development and management of client relationships. She will also be instrumental in workflow optimization, research initiatives, and internal collaboration within the TFG Grants Division. Kristen's leadership will extend to guiding issue-specific and client teams, driving innovation, and fostering a forward-thinking approach to client and project management.

Kristen is also TFG’s resident brownfield redevelopment expert with over 18 years of experience. This work supports communities in their efforts to transform properties to make them desirable for development and improve the quality of life for the people that live there.

Kristen's promotion comes at a pivotal time as TFG continues to expand and enhance services to meet the growing needs of our clients. TFG’s Grants Division has experienced explosive growth, expanding from from three full-time staff in 2021 to 17 permanent, in-house employees today. This growth trajectory continues as the firm plans to hire additional full-time grant professionals before the end of 2024. The TFG Grants Division has also established the TFG Grants Consulting Network (GCN), comprising over 60 of the nation’s top grant professionals who support the division. TFG aims to reach a milestone of 100 grant professionals by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Since 2015, TFG has assisted clients in securing over $5.9 billion in competitive federal, state, and foundation funding.
