FTA Announces $25.8 Million for Transit Planning

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of $25.8 million in grant funds to support comprehensive planning associated with new fixed guideway and core capacity improvement projects.  Applications are due July 23, 2018.

The Pilot Program for TOD Planning provides funding to local communities to integrate land use and transportation planning in new fixed guideway and core capacity transit project corridors. Planning must examine ways to improve economic development and ridership, foster multimodal connectivity and accessibility, improve transit access for pedestrian and bicycle traffic, engage the private sector, identify infrastructure needs, and enable mixed-use development near transit stations. The planning work be associated with a new fixed guideway or core capacity transit project as defined in Federal transit statute.

Planning work proposed for funding under this program must be associated with an eligible transit capital project, namely a new fixed guideway project or a core capacity improvement project; please see the NOFO for more specific information regarding eligibility.

FTA will host a webinar on the funding opportunity at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, June 14. The webinar will provide an overview of the program, describe eligible applicants and projects, and provide an opportunity for attendees to obtain answers to other questions.  Advance registration is not required for this webinar. The webinar will be available on FTA's TOD page after June 14 if you cannot attend.
