On October 3, 2016 the Department of Justice awarded $119 million in grant funding through the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) COPS Hiring Program (CHP). Funding was dispersed across 184 law enforcement agencies with the purpose of hiring and rehiring entry-level career law enforcement officers in an effort to create and preserve jobs and increase community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts. This year, over 900 law enforcement positions were created or saved as a result of CHP. Click here to see the complete list of award recipients.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 COPS Hiring Program and thank you for your service!
