EPA Announces 12 Applicants for FY 2017 WIFIA

On July 19, 2017, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
the applicant pool able to apply for Water Infrastructure Finance and
Innovation Act (WIFIA) loans. WIFIA provides low-cost supplemental loans for
regionally and nationally significant projects investing in water
infrastructure. This includes projects involving wastewater, drinking water,
stormwater, and water recycling.
The FY 2017 WIFIA program received $25 million in funding,
including an additional $8 million in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of
2017 which President Trump signed into law in May 2017. A total of $2.3 billion
in loans were requested with projects ranging from $22 to $625 million. The
loans will finance a total of $5.1 billion in in total water infrastructure
investments. The projects would impact 20 million people across small, medium
