As part of Monday’s deal to end the government shutdown, Congress delayed the Cadillac Tax by another two years.  This means that the tax will not go into effect until 2022.  The Cadillac Tax, originally passed as part of the Affordable Care Act, imposes a 40% tax on health insurance plans valued at more than $27,500 for families and $10,200 for individuals.  The tax was supposed to go into effect in 2013, but nation-wide opposition, particularly from labor groups, has successfully delayed its implementation until 2022.
