During the week of April 23, President Trump announced his intent to nominate or appoint 19 individuals to positions in the Trump Administration.

On April 24, former Republican state senator Debbie Lesko defeated Democratic physician Hiral Tipirneni in a special election in Arizona's 8th Congressional District to fill the vacancy left by former Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), who resigned on December 8, 2017 over sexual misconduct allegations. Lesko defeated Tiperneni by 5.2 percentage points (52.6% to 47.4%) in a Congressional District that President Trump won by 21 percentage points in 2016. Lesko will be sworn into the House on May 7. On April 26, President Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum to the heads of executive departments and agencies stating that he will be withholding, until October 26, 2021, the publication of some documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy because of national security concerns. Read more.
